“If you don’t say aloud what you think, then nobody hears you. If I want to entertain everyone, I have to first be pleased with myself, without caring about what others say. This is what I learned from the companionship of Los Ingobernables in Mexico. I can’t say anything else but thank you to them. Gracias, amigos.”
Happy 36th birthday Tetsuya Naito! (June 22, 1982)

Fun fact: the last four NXT Women Champions, including the current reigning champion, Ember Moon, have all been women of color. This signifies that most women to capture the title were of color, as there have been six champions in total. Asuka, a Japanese woman, was the longest reigning NXT Women’s champion and has the longest title reign in all of NXT.

On this day: Longtime partners and rivals Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi go to war for an epic 43 minutes on Halloween over the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship, which Misawa finally reclaims for a record-tying 4th time after multiple Tiger Drivers ‘91s and a flurry of forearms in Tokyo Sports’ Match of the Year. Wrestling Tumblr G1 Climax 27!!!!!
Let’s have a little contest and predict the G1 winners. Here’s how it works:
You fill out this dang form, predicting who will win each match. When the G1 is all over, the results will be tallied, and the winner will win… something! DEFINITELY glory and fame!
There might be other things too: maybe fanfic or manips? Or maybe some merch? Who knows. Feel free to comment on this post if you are either willing to lend something to the cause, or if you have a good idea for a prize!
Responses will be closed just before the opening bell on the first night– 11pm Pacific time on Sunday, July 16th. (That’s 2am Eastern on Monday July 17th.)
Scoring:
Each correct prediction is worth 2 points.
Each correct block winner gets you 5 points.
If you predict the entire tournament winner, you get 10 points.
Tie-breaker will break any ties.If you want to figure out your bracket, here’s a great spreadsheet made by someone on r/squaredcircle. Will be super helpful!
Here’s how the G1 works:
This tournament is running from July 17th to August 13th. There are two blocks; Block A and Block B. Each person in a block will face everyone else in their block. Each win gets you two points. A draw is one point, and a loss is zero points. The person with the most points from each Block moves onto the finals, were the two block winners face each other. The winner gets a briefcase to main event Wrestle Kingdom 12 for the IWGP Heavyweight championship.
GOOD LUCK!!!! And thanks to r/squaredcircle, from which I
stolelovingly reappropriated this form. They have the same contest going on over there! Please reblog if you think others will be interested, and let me know if you catch any errors. Thanks!
